Multi-Faith, Ecumenical and Environmentally Friendly
A division of Kiasa Ltd, an Infra-Red and PV (photo-voltaic) Heating Panel specialist, Infra-Red 4 Churches* (IR4C) was set up to service an increasing number of enquiries from churches, chapels and other faith-based congregational groups. Many communities, of all faiths and denominations, face similar challenges when it comes to heating their places of worship – large high-ceilinged spaces that are poorly insulated, often infrequently used, and struggling with inadequate legacy heating that is close to, or even past, its sell-by date.

Many currently struggle with ever-increasing energy prices, along with the moral imperative to reduce carbon emissions. Infra-Red heating meets both of those challenges.
*For the purposes of simplicity, we use the word ‘Churches’ throughout this website but our services are not only available to Christian denominations. Rather we use it to include faith-based places of worship, and their subsidiary buildings, across all religions.

We Understand the Heating Conundrums Facing Churches
With the Government’s commitment to ‘net zero’, the installation of new gas boilers is due to be banned in England and Wales from 2035 (currently in Scotland the date is 2028 but will probably slip back). With the short life span of gas boilers (15-20 years), energy prices continually increasing, the cost of annual servicing, and the general inefficiencies of gas heating in typical church spaces, this may be a blessing in disguise in many cases.
At the same time, size of congregation has dramatically declined. Some authorities estimate between 20 and 25% less from 2019 thru’ 2022, although the influence of Covid-19 cannot be underestimated. But the fact is that most churches need to heat a lot less people. As such ‘tactical’ zonal heating is the perfect answer – IR supports our philosophy to just heat where people are, when they’re there.
All things considered IR4C is devoted in its belief that Infra-Red heating, where possible combined with solar panels, is a sustainable way to effectively warm places of worship and future-proof them within an environmentally friendly future.
Comprehensive Consultancy
Having worked with a range of churches already we realise that every church has different requirements. We work best when we are invited to become involved early in the planning and costing strategy as a trusted partner. Whilst a new heating strategy is generally a ‘first’ for most of the churches we work with, IR heating is in our DNA and we can bring experience not only from churches but listed buildings, hot yoga studios, commercial and industrial refurbishments to residential, and even dog-hotels! There is not a lot that is new to us.
In terms of cost and value this experience is important. Increasingly we are invited to consult on projects where other contractors have either under-specified, or more frequently over-specified and over-priced installations. Our pricing policy is always competitive and our after-installation service is highly rated.
A 360º Installation Service Support
We recommend that you contract with a local electrician for installation purposes, but have our own dedicated support team to help scope, brief and deliver the project. This starts with an audit of the power requirement for the new system to ensure the space is adequately wired. It is common to find that a bigger, three phase, electrical supply needs to be provided before the panels and bars are installed.
We also have solar panel experts and can advise on how best to make your new heating system as self-sufficient as possible and, potentially, return power to the grid.
